Golden Retriever - Large - Senior - Female - Dog - Gretchen
Description
GRETCHEN 12-year-old spayed female Gretchen is a 12 year old Golden who is very loving. She follows her foster mom from room to room and loves to be petted and have her belly scratched. She has a lot of energy for an old girl. Gretchen loves people and will greet all visitors with a lot of enthusiasm, wagging her tail and trying to talk to them while getting them to pet her. She particularly loves children. Her foster moms granddaughters, ranging in age from 1 to 15, come over often and she is always very excited to see them. Gretchen gets along with other dogs and cats. When she wants to play with the cats she will gently nudge them with her nose. Gretchen is house broken and does not get on the furniture even when no one is home. She follows some simple commands such as come, sit and stay but expects a treat for doing so. She can also give a "high five". Her previous family said that she is very protective of her food but (so far) we have not seen this (yet!). She will counter surf and get into the trash and litter box. Gretchen loves to go for rides in the car and walks well with a halti collar to keep her from pulling. She had two seizures this past summer, one in July and one in August. Her vet put her on Phenobarbital and she has not had a seizure since. Gretchen has some mild arthritis in her hips but gets around easily and does not seem to be in pain. She had a haircut but has a gorgeous coat that is growing back in. Gretchen will make someone a very loving companion. Gretchen and Sam are brother and sister, and while they are both doing beautifully in their respective foster homes but if someone special wanted a pair, they are both available.
